Chancellors locked out as PNG University students go on strike

University students at the  Papua New Guinea Natural Resources and Environment (PNGUNRE) in East New Britain Province have locked out the Pro-Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor from their respective offices, local media reports.

They have also locked up the Registrar's Office. 

This happened   after the students became frustrated over the administering of students welfare and academic performance, and the lack of a positive response to their two petitions.

The all student body are on  strike while waiting for the country's Minister for Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology, Wesley Raminai, and his department Secretary to address their petitions.

Police have now moved on  the campus to ensure there are no further disruptions.
