Two high-flying Papua New Guinean women with highly decorated accolades in their field of work have been invited to represent PNG once again on the international stage to speak at Edinburgh International Culture Summit.

The Edinburgh International Culture Summit is a biennial ministerial forum established in 2012 by the Edinburgh International Festival in a unique partnership with the British Council, Scottish Parliament, and the Scottish and UK Governments.

They are Dame Meg Taylor, DBE and Dr Yalinu Poya Gow, Ph.D.

Seasoned corporate leader, Dame Meg Taylor, is an influential woman leader, who served as Secretary-General to the Pacific Islands Forum until 2021.

Dame Taylor joins the Summit to share her insight into the corporate and regulatory matters of creating a sustainable society.

With a vast and varied experience in the public and private sectors at national and international levels, she will offer valuable knowledge in the discussion of marine, forest, and urban environments with a focus on the Oceanic territories.

The trail-blazing young scientist, Dr. Gow, a recipient of the 2020 University of Glasgow Future World Changer award, is a Papua New Guinean scientist recognized internationally for her expertise in green chemistry and climate change policy.

Through her research in ammonia production, her ambition is to develop solutions to feed the world’s population more sustainably.

She will be sharing her work at the summit.
