Eligibility Requirements:

Applicants must:

  • Be new international students applying to enroll full-time in undergraduate or postgraduate (taught) programs at the University of Waikato.
  • Have received a conditional or unconditional offer of place from the University.
  • Have achieved a minimum GPA equivalent to a B+ in previous studies.
  • Not be currently enrolled at the University of Waikato.
  • Not be coming through a sponsoring body, a Guaranteed Credit Arrangement, or as part of a study abroad or exchange program.
  • Not have paid tuition fees or applied for a visa at the time of application.​

Application Process:

Apply for Admission:

  • Submit an application to enroll at the University of Waikato.
  • Obtain a conditional or unconditional offer of place.​

Apply for the Scholarship:

  • Log in to the MyWaikato portal.
  • Navigate to the 'Scholarships' tab.
  • APPLY NOW

Complete the scholarship application form, including:

  • Uploading your offer of place.
  • Providing a personal statement (maximum 200 words) outlining:
  • Your career goals and aspirations.
  • How an international education experience will help you achieve these goals.
  • What qualities or skills make you an ideal candidate and potential ambassador for the University.


Application Deadlines:

Applications are reviewed monthly, excluding December. To be considered for a specific intake, applications must be received by:​

  • 30 November for A Trimester offers of place.
  • 30 April for B Trimester offers of place.
  • 31 August for C Trimester offers of place.
  • 31 October for H or X Trimester offers of place.
