The Chinese Government Scholarship (Type B) – High-Level Postgraduate Program is established to attract outstanding international students to pursue graduate studies in China. It aims to foster mutual understanding and academic cooperation in education, technology, culture, and economics.
Hosting University and Scholarship Provider:
The scholarship is hosted by Nanjing University (NJU) and funded by the Chinese Government through the China Scholarship Council (CSC).
Course Programs:
- The program supports full-time Master’s and Doctoral degree studies at Nanjing University.
- Duration: 2–3 years for Master’s and 4 years for Doctoral programs.
- Programs may be taught in Chinese or English, depending on the field of study.

Eligibility:
- Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health.
- Master’s applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree and be under 35 years old.
- Doctoral applicants must hold a Master’s degree and be under 40 years old.
- Graduating students must provide a pre-graduation certificate confirming completion by July .
Language proficiency:
- Chinese-taught programs: HSK Level 4 or 5 required for admission; Level 5 or 6 for graduation depending on major.
- English-taught programs: IELTS 6.0, TOEFL 85, TOEFL Essentials 9, or Duolingo 100 required.
- Applicants receiving other Chinese government scholarships are ineligible.
Requirements and Conditions:
- Students must study full-time at NJU; distance or transfer study is not allowed.
- Leaving the university during academic terms requires approval; violations may result in cancellation of the scholarship.
- Scholarship recipients undergo an annual review between March and May to determine continuation based on academic performance and conduct.

- Apply through Nanjing University’s international student service system and choose “CSC Scholarship Type B.”
Required documents include:
- Academic transcripts and highest diploma.
- Two recommendation letters from professors or associate professors.
- Language proficiency certificates (HSK, IELTS, TOEFL, or Duolingo).
- Personal statement (template provided).
- Physical examination form (within six months).
- Passport copy and non-criminal record (within six months).
- Doctoral applicants: abstract of master’s thesis.
- Architecture and Urban Planning applicants: portfolio of works.
- Applications undergo initial review within three working days.
Departmental evaluations are conducted in February ; results are announced in March . Successful applicants receive a pre-admission letter.

- Submit application through the CSC portal using Agency No. 10284 (Program Type B).
- Upload the NJU pre-admission letter.
- Final results are confirmed by CSC, and NJU will send admission notices. Students register in early September 2026 with all original documents for verification.
